Studio Bosporus. Kulturakademie Tarabya zu Gast in Berlin

Vom Bosporus an die Spree: Die Kulturakademie Tarabya ermöglicht Künstlerinnen und Künstlern mit Wohnsitz in Deutschland seit 2012 vier bis achtmonatige Residenzen in der Türkei, um dort zu leben, zu arbeiten und sich mit der türkischen Kulturszene zu vernetzen. Erstmals präsentieren die Stipendiatinnen und Stipendiaten des vergangenen Jahres ihre Arbeiten in Deutschland: Unter dem Titel „Studio Bosporus“ erwartet das Publikum im Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart in Berlin neben Gesprächsrunden mit Partnern und Künstlerinnen ein Programm aus Ausstellungen, Film, Literatur, Performance und Musik. Neben dem künstlerischen Programm, das Arbeiten aller Disziplinen umfasst, findet auch ein Panel zu deutsch-türkischen Kulturfragen statt, an dem unter anderem Asena Günal, die Geschäftsführerin der gemeinnützigen Kulturinstitution Anadolu Kültür, Johannes Ebert, Generalsekretär des Goethe-Instituts, sowie der Theatermacher Tuğsal Moğul teilnehmen, dessen deutsch-türkische Kooproduktion zum NSU-Komplex, „Auch Deutsche unter den Opfern“ national wie international auf große Resonanz stieß.

The Tarabya Cultural Academy in Istanbul is a residency programme for artists of all disciplines. For the first time, alumni of the most recent year (September 2017 to August 2018) are presenting at Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart a selection of their work in all artistic fields created in Istanbul. The group includes visual artists Theo Eshetu and Philipp Lachenmann, novelists Olga Grjasnowa and Matthias Göritz, poets Max Czollek and Monika Rinck, musicians Angelika Niescier and Christian Thomé, and many other artists from Germany and Turkey. Founded as an initiative of the German Federal Parliament, the academy promotes cultural exchange between the two countries. Run by the German Embassy in Ankara, curatorial decisions are made by the Goethe-Institute. The Cultural Academy’s connecting principle serves as a model, bringing together outstanding artists from Germany with Istanbul’s cultural creatives.
