>>> ARTWORK OPEN CALL <<<
Femme - a visual exhibition to accompany Femmetopia Festival (https://www.facebook.com/events/2066041700347490/), exploring the definition of Femme and the intersectionality of modern feminism in celebration and critique of the centenary of women’s suffrage.
We aim in this exhibition to celebrate the strength in the diversity of feminism as a movement since the events of 1918.
We will highlight the very narrow concept of a woman deemed deserving of the vote in 1918, as it was only a very small percentage of the female population who actually received the vote at that time. Women are so much more than white women over 30 who’s families owned land.. We have come a long way in our acceptance and celebration of women in the last 100 years, but there is still a long way to go..
We are especially looking for works that celebrate:
> being/loving trans/non-binary/femme
> queer women of colour (trans inclusive)
> queer womanhood (trans inclusive)
> queer femme bodies
> womanhood/femmehood under the age of 30
> our strength in the fight for femme equality
>> All artwork must be presentable in a 2D print or film format.
>> Please email your work to kat@vfdalston.com by midnight on April 23rd to be considered for the show.
Thanks!
