Description
DIE WUNDE hatte seine Weltpremiere im Wettbewerb von Sundance und eröffnete zwei Wochen später das Panorama der diesjährigen Berlinale.
Bereits in seinem preisgekrönten Kurzfilm DIE ZIEGE (2014) widmete sich Regisseur John Trengove dem Ukwaluka-Beschneidungsritus seiner südafrikanischen Heimat. In seinem Spielfilmdebüt DIE WUNDE bettet er darin die Geschichte einer schwulen Liebesbeziehung ein und bricht damit gleich zwei Tabus auf einmal.
Bis heute wird in weiten Teilen der südafrikanischen Gesellschaft weder über Ukwaluka noch über Homosexualität offen gesprochen.
