Helen Hessel ist gebürtige Berlinerin, Wahlfranzösin, Journalistin, Übersetzerin, Widerstandskämpferin, Ehefrau und Geliebte (deren gelebte ménage á trois von Francois Truffaut verfilmt wurde) und …. sie ist 96 Jahre alt geworden. Eine faszinierende Zeugin des 20. Jahrhunderts. Sie traf und war befreundet mit A.Huxley, Picasso, W.Benjamin, M.Duchamp, P.Klee, K.Kollwitz, V.Fry und Rainer Maria Rilke, der ihr ein Gedicht gewidmet hat, aus dem die oben zitierten Zeilen stammen.
