Die Bergarbeiter eines walisischen Dorfs streiken, um gegen Zechenschließungen und Privatisierung zu kämpfen, die Margaret Thatchers Regierung beschlossen hat. Unterstützt werden sie von einer kleinen schwul-lesbischen Aktivistengruppe aus London, die für die Kumpel Spenden sammelt. Als die Exoten aus London das Dorf besuchen, stoßen sie bei vielen aus der Dorfgemeinschaft auf Vorurteile und teilweise auch auf Ablehnung. Doch dann bemerkt man, dass es weit mehr Gemeinsamkeiten als Unterschiede gibt.
