description:
Wilkes-Barre has a proud history in the labor movement, but the new economy leaves many of us behind. Most workers in healthcare and the service sector are paid low wages and have no voice on the job.

Women and people of color are hit hardest. That’s why retail and hospitality workers are campaigning to improve wages and working conditions and organizing unions. Managers are using pressure tactics to stop workers uniting, while politicians in
Harrisburg and Washington, DC are pushing laws to destroy workers’ organizations.

This Labor Day, join us for a direct action at the Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce at 11am to demand the Wilkes-Barre we want and an economy that works for the many, not the few.

Then join us after at Kirby Park (280 Market St, Kingston Pa 18704) for a picnic with the local labor community and stand with the workers organizing for their rights and our future.
