On the Eve Of Trump's Visit to the Island of Puerto Rico We are Calling a Call to Action To All Angelinos to Come Out and Support!!! JOIN US FOR AN EMERGENCY CALL TO ACTION TO FIGHT FOR PUERTO RICO!!! After Hurricane Maria devastated the island, many people in Puerto Rico are fighting to stay alive. The US federal government has prevented foreign aid from arriving while simultaneously refusing to take action to accelerate the aid themselves. The local government has proven inept. It is the people themselves that are helping each other through this trying time. Puerto Ricans on the archipelago need us to stand up for them and speak out against the injustices they are facing. OUR DEMANDS: Needs-based priorities not profits-based: Distribute food, water and fuel to people first! Not stores and restaurants! Ensure that vulnerable populations are taken care of! Stop the militarization of Puerto Rico: Authorize the use of military equipment & personnel for Transportation, Distribution of Aid, Rescue, and Clean-up efforts. NOT for repression. End the curfew! Waive the Jones Act for good for Puerto Rico and all offshore territories! Cancel Puerto Rico’s Debt: The debt is not ours. Puerto Rico owes the USA nothing. The USA owes all colonized and enslaved peoples REPARATIONS. And fully Fund Puerto Rico’s Recovery! This is a humanitarian crisis caused by a longtime political crisis in Puerto Rico. The US federal government is complicit. We need everyone to come out and express their outrage at the inhumane treatment of our brothers and sisters on the archipelago. Join us for an emergency protest. Bring your signs, photos of your loved ones, panderos, maracas, your voice to call for justice & relief for our people.
