description:
On January 20, 2018 from noon until 4pm we will gather in Atlanta to celebrate the Anniversary of the Atlanta March for Social Justice and Women. We will celebrate our success in collaboratively developing our 501c3 the Georgia Alliance For Social Justice, fighting bad legislation, and winning some important races.
We have demonstrated our might through the largest single civil rights march in Georgia history, now we must prepare to show our might in the legislature and at the polls. We are going to party, we’re going to rally with inspiring speakers, and we are going to introduce you to our Social Justice City. Social Justice City will be an opportunity for participants to meet with local organizations leading the work on important issues, registering to vote, and meeting one on one with progressive elected officials and candidates running for office. Our event model, its purpose and goals were developed in collaboration with Women’s March national leaders. Women’s March leadership feels strongly that as an organization, we must develop strategies for success in the 2018 midterms and we fully support that mission. That is why the national organizers and Georgia organizers have developed this event. Our goals: inspire more progressive candidates (especially women and underrepresented people) to run for office, register voters, educate voters on important issues so that they can be effective advocates and mobilize people to the polls. Together we can make a difference at the federal, state and local levels. #PowerToThePollsGA #GrabEmByTheMidterms
Look forward to the official announcement of speakers and partners in the days and weeks to come. We hope to see you there.
