ActionAid Adelaide’s local group are running a community meeting with allies and supporters as part of the 16 Days of Activism to stop violence against women’s activities. RSVP here >> http://act.ai/2AcldAT

We know that in order to achieve gender equality and poverty eradication, women must have access to essential public services such as education, healthcare, and transport. These ensure that women have full access to their rights, and reduce the burden of unpaid labour.

Despite this, multinational corporations and wealthy individuals are robbing billions from communities, disproportionately impacting women, in Australia and around the world. They do this by hiding their revenue in a murky web of trust, foundations and shell companies. That’s why we’ve been campaigning for a public register of beneficial ownership - a register that will allow us to identify and pursue those who aren’t paying their fair share.

Women’s organisations - here in Australia and around the world – are fighting for adequate funding to ensure the public services critical to protecting and advancing women’s rights. Our discussion will bring domestic and international women’s organisations together to discuss the links between tax justice and the prevention of violence against women.
