WHAT IS A SPACE FOR WOMEN?

A Space for Women is a Fashion Week presentation hosted by Design Circle NYC, a fashion design collective that seeks to raise awareness for charitable causes. Six designers will exhibit looks inspired by local women-centric nonprofits. The event will be held at New Women Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn on Feb. 15, 2018.

COME FOR:

-- Dialogue-promoting fashion design and interactive installations!
-- Free Beer! Provided by Sixpoint Brewery (and snacks provided by Bare).
-- Free Kombucha! Provided by woman-owned and Brooklyn-based Pilot Kombucha.
-- A female-empowered playlist by Bethany Robertson of Loveless Designs!
-- Other cool goods and takeaways provided by BULLETIN (!) and our non-profits.

Stop by for drinks, light bites, music, design and dialogue, while we raise money and awareness for some wonderful organizations. Come by yourself or draw your friends out of their winter caves!

DESCRIPTION:

A Space for Women will center on a relevant subject very important to us: Feminism. We believe in intersectional, gender-expansive feminism, and we've partnered with the following organizations that work to support women in our local communities:

Hollaback!
My Sisters' Place
Sanctuary for Families
The Lower Eastside Girls Club
Susan G. Komen of Greater NYC
The Women's Alzheimer's Movement

Each designer’s selected nonprofit has touched them personally in some way, and its mission - combined with the designer’s own personal experience - has informed and inspired the garment design process. Each designer has also created their own limited-edition enamel pin for the event.

Proceeds from A Space for Women will be split equally amongst our worthy nonprofits, with just 10% going back towards Design Circle NYC endeavors to promote more awesome causes!

RSVP:

RSVP’s are encouraged! An RSVP with an advance donation of $10 or more will secure your choice of one limited-edition enamel designer pin at the event. Choose from one of six. Pins will also be available for purchase at the event, but may be priced higher due to limited quantities!

COST:

Free, with a suggested $10 donation at the door. Admission is open to the public.
