Then let’s show the world– our new U.S. president – that our voices matter, and will be heard, as Sisters In Synergy joins the Historic Reenactment March Across Edmund Pettus Bridge! This amazing day of women’s liberation and human rights activism starts Sunday, March 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. with the ReSister, ReDefining, ReVolting Our Power Women’s Summit. Join thousands of influential women in the fields of politics, entertainment, education and entrepreneurship as we discuss what’s occurring in our great nation, and how we must respond. After all, we want to hold the Republicans accountable, while putting the Democrats on notice. Our nation’s children are counting on us. We can not afford an existence in silence. No more life in the shadows. There is no time like the present time! We must stand up and resist! For more than two decades, Selma has commemorated the anniversary of “Bloody Sunday” and the March from Selma to Montgomery, events which led to the passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Throughout history, black women have been instrumental in gaining civil rights for all Americans. We worked to gain the right to vote in the Suffrage Movement and was asked to march behind white women. We worked to gain civil rights in the Civil Rights Movement and was asked to march behind black men. Now, we are leading our way to change. We are asking our allies to stand WITH us or stand BEHIND us. Where will you stand on March 5th? We are calling women of all races, ages, backgrounds, and interests to join our fight against tyranny and oppression! From Anchorage to Rhode Island and Chicago to Texas, we will stand in solidarity! Once again, SELMA will serve as a national backdrop for women rights and human rights! Not since the 1960s have U.S. citizens suffered from such blatant attacks on democracy: sweeping suppression of voting rights and women’s rights with a heightened pipeline to prison and disenfranchisement of black and brown people. With this present White House administration, each day brings a new wave of gut-wrenching developments — a ban on refugees and many Muslim immigrants, preparations to reopen CIA "dark sites" previously utilized for torture, a push for a border wall, as well as gag orders on scientists at federal agencies, and attacks on the press. We must answer their threats to our way of life. We must stand undivided. We must unite Please join our national movement.
