description:
The not-for-profit lesbian journal Ostrov has been published in Russia since 1999, and it is the oldest existing lesbian publication in the country.

As of February 2014, the complete set of Ostrov will be hosted by Glasgow Women’s Library. To mark the event, Ostrov’s co-editors, Olgerta Kharitonova and Sabine Hoffman, join us from Moscow to talk about the journal and about lesbian and feminist activism in contemporary Russia.

They will discuss the LGBT situation in Russia, which is currently in the spotlight in view of the controversies around official pronouncements about the Sochi Winter Olympics this month.

The event is open to all interested in the subject regardless of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnic background and political views.

A free event but please book via:
