Join NYC for Abortion Rights for a screening of Las Mujeres Deciden, followed by a Q&A with Director Xiana Yago!

About the film:
Maria, a Spanish physician, works in a maternity hospital in the Ecuadorian rainforest. She is shocked by the many premature pregnancies and the violence women in Ecuador must face. She meets Mishell, an adolescent abused by his father, and Yanina, a woman who decides to perform a clandestine abortion. María discovers that behind unintended pregnancies again and again hides sexual violence.

About Xianga Yago:
Xiana Yago was born in 1984 in Spain and studied medicine in Barcelona. In 2009, she moved to Berlin, where she worked as assistant director in the no- budget film scene. In 2011 Xiana received a Masters in Screenwriting for Film and TV at Carlos III University in Madrid. She led a screenwriting workshop for young people in Germany, then moved to Ecuador in 2012 and created Las Mujeres Deciden.
