Does social media make you nervous? Have you heard horror stories of kids online? At Hardy Girls, we’re all about tackling tough issues and sorting out media hype from reality. We’re also committed to learning from girls about their own experiences. Join Girlfighting author and Hardy Girls co-founder, Dr. Lyn Mikel Brown, and members of our Portland-based Girls Advisory Board for an open discussion of the risks and opportunities of social media. Lyn will share current research on social media usage and the girls will share their experiences online, how they deal with trolls and bullies and how they use social media to build friendships, find community, and engage in online activism.
This event is open to the public. Youth (most appropriate for middle school age and above) are welcome.
