Hospital work, higher education and other service sector jobs are now the backbone of our economy, but too many Americans who work in these jobs are falling behind with low wages and no voice on the job.

Labor Day parade will be provided
Because “eds and meds” sets the standard in our economy, we’re all held back. Women and people of color are hit hardest. That’s why retail and hospitality workers are campaigning to improve their wages and working conditions and UPMC hospital workers, University of Pittsburgh academic workers, and fast food workers are organizing unions. Managers are using pressure tactics to stop workers uniting, while politicians in Harrisburg and Washington, DC are pushing laws to destroy workers’ organizations. Join us on Labor Day for this day of action to stand up for working people in Pittsburgh and across the country!
