description:
Nanaimo Women March On wou ld like to acknowledge that Nanaimo is the traditional territory of the Snuneymuxw First Nation. We keep this acknowledgment and respect for the Coast Salish people at the forefront of our march and thank the Snuneymuxw nation for allowing us to gather.

A major goal of Nanaimo Women March On 2018 is to encourage local community building and to motivate people to take everyday actions to learn about, raise awareness of, and to prevent gender-based violence.

We see January 20th as an extension of the work we do before and after that day: we hope this annual women's march is a recognition of movement building.

We encourage and aim for grassroots, collaborative, inclusive, transparent and non competitive modes of organizing. When possible, we strive for rotating leadership so that many voices can be heard.

We support March On, the Women's March, and anyone organizing to realize a peaceful, intersectional march in service of gender justice, anti racism, decolonization, LGBTQ2+, and diversity in age and ability.

No one should own a women's march. The power is with the people.
For marchers with a disability, children, or any mobility concerns: we invite you to set the pace and to lead us, in partnership with volunteer organizers, to Maffeo Sutton Park. We will guide but follow you. Please contact us if you'd like us to look into ride sharing options.

Please follow this page and reach out for information about how to get involved.

We believe in communities. We believe survivors. We welcome allies. Feminism is love.
