The feminist movement has exploded onto the streets in recent years. Movements against sexual harassment, domestic abuse and inequality in the workplace have sprung up in the most unlikely places. And yet, there remains a gaping chasm between the feminist rhetoric of the 1% and the liberation struggles of poor and working class women around the world. This day school will be a chance to question, discuss and further conventional Marxist and feminist understandings of oppression. It will consider how social reproduction perpetuates oppression and ask whether intersectionality is the key to unlocking the liberation of all. All welcome. ***Timetable*** 10-10:30: Registration **10:30-12** Feminism and neoliberalism -Nilufer Erdem (Hotel Workers campaign, rs21), Estelle Cooch & spoken word from Josette Joseph **12-1:45** Workshop 1: The feminist movement today - Solvi Goard – (trans activist) - Speaker from Sisters Uncut - Barbara Rocha, porter at Sotheby’s suspended for involvement in the living wage campaign. **12-1:45** Workshop 2: Marxism and feminism today: divorced, married or cohabiting? - Jen Wilkinson (rs21) 1:45-2:30- Break **2:30-4:15** Workshop 3: Sexual violence and rape: can we explain it?
