We seek to create a space for women that would otherwise be intimidated or uncomfortable attending a stereotypical thaiboxing gym. This, however, excludes them from developing some of the positive mental training that is associated with martial arts. This workshop aims to deliver both. This 3 hour workshop introduces the ancient art of muay Thai (beginners welcome) and fuses it with a self-development workshop aimed at women who are looking to create change in their lives. The first hour will consist of learning striking basics and simple combos padwork. This will be a fitness based session but is open to any and all levels. Too many boxfit and kickfit classes do us women a masive disservice by not teaching us how to punch and kick properly. No matter your gender or size, you are capable of generating plenty of power behind those punches. By learning properly, you will also engage more muscle groups and get fitter faster. This class will teach you how. The following two hours will be spent working on belief systems. These are the underlying ideas we have about ourselves that drastically impact our lives and behaviour. They are the driving force behind why we do what we do. This section begins by introducing and explaining the topic, before adding individual and group exercises. The aim is to identify negative or limiting beliefs and create new empowering beliefs in their place. Everyone should leave feeling much more powerful than when they stepped in. ***Please not this is a STRICTLY FEMALE ONLY event. Males will not be permitted to attend or watch. This is to ensure all women feel comfortable to train, work and share during the workshop.*** Please bring clothes you can workout in, a change of clothes for the rest of the workshop, water, and a pen and notebook.
