ANGELA DAVIS: PORTRAIT OF A REVOLUTIONARY (12) Yolande du Luart USA 1972, digital, b/w, 60 min. Trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=izyYt3jFYr8 The late '60s and early '70s produced a large crop of social critics and self-labelled revolutionaries. Outspoken Black militant feminist and communist Angela Davis was one of these. Davis, also a professor of philosophy at U.C.L.A., is the subject of this documentary film made by one of her U.C.L.A. students. It features her in the classroom, at a "rap" session, studying quietly, and giving her rumbustious speeches at antiwar and other demonstrations. "Radical means getting to the roots of things" -" Angela Davis "Two factors of Miss Davis’s personality are dominant – a warm and deep concern for her ”brothers and sisters”, and her almost total sacrifice of self to “the struggle”." - John L. Wasserman, San Francisco Chronicle "Whether or not you agree with Miss Davis's assertions, this film is impressive" - Howard Thompson, New York Times Door open at 7.00pm Event starts at 7.30pm Purchase your tickets from https://www.berniegrantcentre.co.uk/see/film-angela-davis-portrait-of-a-revolutionary/
