The webdoc Voice of Mother India is about 5 women with diverse backgrounds: A tattoo artist from Mumbai speaking about her friendship marriage. A spiritual retired lawyer fighting for women rights. A muslim school girl visiting a catholic school. A christian nurse working in the rural country of Madhya Pradesh. A Hindu wife working at a women empowerment centre in the desert of Thar.
The western picture of an Indian women is dominated with discrimination, rape and pain. No doubt - for a lot of women that is a hard reality but there is also hope and change in society. Feminist movements like #IWILLGOOUT or #feminisminindia pick up their fight against patriarchy. The film installation shows these little social movements and explain the diversity of India.
The installation is free for all festival visitors.
Berlin Feminist Film Week is supported by Rosa-Luxemburg Stiftung, Svenska ambassaden i Berlin and Mobile-Kino.
