Vortrag: Mein Körper, meine Entscheidung? (§218/219 StGB)

At NEU / Kafé am Weinberg, Kassel, Germany
On 5th March 2018 7 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Description

Vortrag: Kriminalisierung von Schwangerschaftsabbrüchen

*English below (but the event itself will be mainly in German, we can organize whisper translations)*

Filmvorführung "Some things are hard to talk about"

Especially since the recent conviction of the Gießen-based gynaecologist Kristina Hänel the discussion regarding the restrictive abortion laws in Germany has been revived again. Self-declared "life protectors" are on their mission to criminally charge gynaecologists when they provide information about their work on their websites. The paragraphs 218/219 of the German penal code make this possible and therewith limit the right for bodily autonomy. Having an abortion is illegal in Germany, it merely remains without sanction under certain conditions. The presentations of Cornelia Krey (ProFamilia) and Nora Szasz and Natascha Nicklaus (the two charged doctors from Kassel) will inform about the legal situation and its consequences for those affected by the law. It will thereby make more visible the much needed discussion about the de-criminalization of abortions also in Kassel.

Next event: 20.03. Film Screening "Some things are hard to talk about"
