Celebration of Equality in Music & Art #2

At 13 percent presents, London, United Kingdom
On 1st February 2018 7:30 p.m. - 11:30 p.m.

Description

13 percent presents
Celebration for all of those who dream of a greater balance, equal opportunities and a better future for performers and music lovers alike. 13 percent Presents will host their second event on 1st of February 2018 at Farr's. For all who wish to raise awareness of matters concerning gender equality within the creative industries and ask how we can, as a creative community, challenge this for a future of change.

Bloom
Bloom make electronic indie folk using big beats, layered vocals and shimmering synths. Formerly named The Beautiful Word, the band supported Ellie Goulding and played festivals including T in the Park, Secret Garden Party & The Great Escape before a cyst developed in Megan's vocal cords, stealing her voice. After a year hiatus for surgery, some growing up, spiritual development and some changes in sonic direction/lineup, The Beautiful Word returned as Bloom, using Kickstarter funds to record the album ‘What is Life’ which has since been described as ‘Astral space pop worthy of Bjork’ by The Quietus, playlisted by Independent Music Monday and worldwide. Tracks from the album have been played by 3 BBC radio presenters and made BBC Introducing Track of the Week.

Seafoxes
Seafoxes is an art-music collaboration based in the former docklands of East London. The members are a group of friends hailing from Norway, Scotland, England and Poland, who formed the band together in early 2015. Their music features ethereal vocal harmonies and bewitching violin instrumentals, while the exquisite artwork is influenced by the diverse topics covered in the sing lyrics.

Their debut 6-track mini-album ‘it’s probably nothing, but…’ was released in July 2016. The songs on the EP were influenced by contemporary social issues, such as mental health issues, government surveillance and our culture of excessive consumption.

In the past few years, Seafoxes have gigged extensively in London and have also played a number of music festivals in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Recently the band were selected by Fred Perry Subculture as one of the ‘British New Wave’ bands to watch out for in 2017. They are currently working on new material with a view to releasing new music throughout 2017 and their debut full-length album in early 2018.

Corporationpop
"Sick of being artistically ripped off and relegated to the role of 'feminist poet girlfriend', corporationpop emerged from Northern poet Elise Hadgraft's late night drinking sessions in a suburban, Stockport kitchen.

Blending electroclash, synthpop and spoken word (with a knowing nod to St. Jarvis Cocker) corporationpop produces unconventionally danceable tracks and experimental live performances

KAROLINA KLONOWSKA
Multidisciplinary artist, designer and interior architect. For the past few years she was involved in an art-music collaboration with Seafoxes. She will be showing examples of her artwork influenced by the diverse topics covered in their songs’ lyrics. Limited edition prints will be available to purchase on a day of event.
