On 25th January 2018 6 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Description

Room: Bancroft Building 2.40 (Queen Mary University)

Hello everyone!

After we had to cancel this event last year due to technical difficulties, we are glad to announce that the panel discussion about the Kurdish Women's Movement has been rescheduled.

Join our three female speakers in a dynamic discussion about the history of the Kurdish movement, the Kurdish Women's resistance and revolutionary structures thats transforming society in Bakur (Northern Kurdistan/South-East Turkey) and Rojava (Western Kurdistan/Northern Syria).

There will be an opportunity for a Q&A at the end of the event.

Speakers:
Rahila Gupta - Freelance journalist, writer and activist. She has written several books and articles, which are published in the Guardian and New Internationalist among others.

Isabel Käser - PhD candidate at the Centre for Gender Studies at SOAS. Her research thesis is "Militant Femininity: the PKK-led women's movement in the Kurdish Middle East - a transnational analysis".

Elif Sarican - MSc Social Anthropology student at the London School of Economics. She is a coordinator for the Kurdistan Students Union U.K. and an activist of the Kurdish Women's Movement.

We look forward to seeing you there! If there are any questions about the event, speakers etc. feel free to ask us – and don't forget to share and tell your friends!
