Not Your Average Book Club - Screen Smart Parenting

At New Women Space, Brooklyn (NY), United States
On 21st January 2018 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Description

Not Your Average Book Club is a book club for moms/femme-identified parents and caregivers - the catch is you don't have to have read the book! -- $15, babysitting and bagels included

January Topic: Navigating Technology
Book: Screen Smart Parenting by Jodi Gold
Book club date: Sunday January 21, 10am - 12:30pm

Different parenting books are selected each month. At each the book's key information is summarized then there is time to discuss and share. The goal - to help femme parents get a little more information and perspective about the subject at hand, and in the process feel more connected with others in the group around these often difficult family topics. We have coffee, tea, and bagels for all.

Screen Smart Parenting is written by psychiatrist and mom, Jodi Gold. She talkes about how to balance the benefits of technology with their downsides to help your child have a healthy relationship to technology, from birth to the teen years.

Babysitting is available. There is a space downstairs and with two qualified, fun babysitters. To bring a child, you need to email in advance so we can anticipate numbers and ages - info@familycollective.org. We can not be sure to accomodate drop in babysitting. Little babies that are sleeping or sitting with you are more than welcome to join the upstairs discussion group and you are free to go between the discussion and downstairs with the children as you need and want to. This is a family-style book club - change diapers, attend to your children, balance your needs.

Cost: $15 got towards a donation to the space and to cover basic expenses for food and babysitters.
