End Police Rape

At 320 Jay St, Brooklyn, NY 11201-2935, United States
On 18th January 2018 8:30 a.m. - noon

Description

The #MeToo movement is routing sexual predators from positions of power within the media, government, academia, and other influential, public-facing institutions. It’s time to eradicate sexual violence from every workplace, however workplace might be defined: as a recording studio, a classroom, a corporate office – or a police car.

NYC4AR demands accountability and justice for an 18-year-old woman who was raped in NYC police custody last September. During a traffic stop in South Brooklyn, officers Eddie Martins and Richard Hall arrested Anna Chambers – the woman's chosen pseudonym—and then took turns assaulting her in the back of their NYPD van while she was handcuffed (for a more detailed description of the case, see: https://socialistworker.org/2017/11/09/new-yorks-slimiest).

NYC4AR stands against gender-based violence in all forms, from forced birth to police rape. Join us at the Kings County Criminal Court this Thursday, January 18, at 9 am to attend the next proceedings in the Martins and Hall case. Our presence in the court will send a clear message: rapists can no longer crawl back inside the institutions that once shielded them from accountability. The walls are crumbling, the beams are exposed, and we won’t look away.
