Back by popular demand, an open mic night for first-generation Americans. Whatever you celebrate--Hanukkah, Christmas, discipline-moon-festival (my favorite name for Ramadan/my mom's least favorite)--if you want to hear poems, good music, and the healing properties of Vic's Vapor rub, come through! We will make you a hot toddy*
Common Q: Can I still perform if I'm not first generation? Yes! It's not an exclusive thing! All performers are welcome. You can sign up with me (free drink ticket), or in-person at the event (no dice).
*Hot toddy's will not be served. Advertising is one giant lie. It's like you didn't even see Mad Men.
Please DM me (Meriam) to sign up!
Performances By:
Marina was born in Russia and raised in Brooklyn. She is an actor and a comedian. Her mom still thinks she's going to be a dentist.
Pratima Mani is a writer and actor from India, raised in the Middle East and now actively avoiding the question 'but where are you REALLY from' in New York City. She started doing standup because it's easier than doing improv and then explaining to her family that improv isn't standup.
Tanael Joachim is a Haitian immigrant who performs standup comedy in New York City. He's been seen on AXS TV on Fox 5, and several festivals across the country.
Taj Osorio didn't write a bio and is very funny.
And more!
