Drei Schauspieler_innen aus Kiew erhielten von der ETC ein 4-wöchiges Arbeitsstipendium, um das Deutsche Theater zu erkunden, Kollegen und Kolleginnen zu begegnen und unter der Leitung von Katharina Schenk aus Berlin und Peter Cant aus London eine Performance zu entwickeln. Diese wird am 1. Dezember einmalig in der Bar gezeigt – unter dem vieldeutigen Titel "I Tell You We Must Die".

Schenk und Cant lernten sich 2016 beim GOGOLFEST in Kiew lernen, wo sie im Rahmen einer ETC-Residency zwei Wochen lang mit jungen ukrainischen Schauspielerinnen und Schauspielern zusammen arbeiteten. Das Ergebnis war so überzeugend, dass sie im September 2017 erneut zum GOGOLFEST nach Kiew eingeladen wurden. Dort kreierten sie in einer leerstehenden Fabriketage hoch über Kiew zusammen mit ihrer siebenköpfigen ukrainischen Truppe "If You Can’t Find a Partner Take a Wooden Chair", eine skurrile Performance voller Poesie und Spannung. Diese Arbeit findet mit "I Tell You We Must Die" nun in Berlin ihre Fortsetzung.

In cooperation with ETC

Katharina Schenk from Berlin and Peter Cant from London met at the GOGOLFEST in Kiev last year, where they spent two weeks working with Ukrainian actors as part of an ETC residency.
The results were so encouraging that Katharina and Peter decided to carry on the work. They created an international theatre-residency this summer at Schloss Freudenberg in Wiesbaden, joined by six Ukrainian actors. In September the troupe were invited to perform at the 10th anniversary edition of GOGOLFEST. In an abandoned factory floor, high above Kiev, they created a performance full of poetry and suspense, "If You Can’t Find a Partner Use a Wooden Chair".
Now the work is continuing in Berlin. Three actors from the Ukrainian troupe received 4-week working scholarship grants from the ETC to develop a new performance with Schenk & Cant, under the enigmatic title "I Tell You We Must Die".
