//Feminist Educational 1- Who was Sylvia Pankhurst?//
//PLEASE NOTE: This event is open to self-defining women and non-binary people only//
This week we will learn about the life of the socialist, anti-fascist organizer, Sylvia Panhkurst. After being expelled from the Suffragette movement by her mother and sister, Pankhurst started the newspaper "Woman's Dreadnought" to campaign for the rights of women workers in East London. She spent the later part of her life campiagning against colonialism, particularlly for the liberation of Ethiopia from Italian occupation. That's just a very short (and boring) description of her life, so join us at lunch if you want to learn more!
After a short presentation, we will have an open discussion (with snacks)
----------------------
This is part of the weekly lunch-time feminist educationals the UCL Women's Network will be putting on through out the year. They will be the same time, same place every week and will, of course, have snacks.
Each educational will be different, sometimes we will discuss readings, other times we will listen to a short presentation. The goal is for the members of the Women's Network to be able ot discuss and debate feminsit issues and learn about various issues in a relaxed environment. This is also a great place to meet other feminists at UCL.
This week we will have a short, informal introduction to the WN and campus activism/ campaigns.
