Women’s Resource Center to host “Art for the Senses” Fundraiser
They say “art is in the eye of the beholder.” At the “Art for the Senses: an event for the Women’s Resource Center,” there will be something to behold for every type of art lover. Attend the event on Friday, October 6 from 6-9 p.m.
HEAR live music; SEE beautiful artworks; SMELL aromatic floral arrangements; TASTE scrumptious hors d’oeuvres; and FEEL good about supporting a worthy cause.
The Women’s Resource Center provides emergency shelter, advocacy, court advocacy, safety planning, forensic exams, Domestic Violence Education Group, counseling, prevention education and community education for Cleveland and northern McClain counties.
“The WRC has been providing care and services to victims of domestic and sexual violence since 1975,” Dr. Lisa Frey, board chair said. “While the number of services we provided in the last year are up, there are a still a lot of people in the community that don’t know about the WRC. We want to change that.”
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Throughout the month, the Women’s Resource Center will be actively engaging the community at local events, raising awareness about the perils of domestic violence on individuals, families, and the community.
Attendees at Art for the Senses will enjoy live demonstrations and live music. Cast your vote on local Food Art, and bid on your favorite silent auction item or baked good.
The event will be held at, 4310 SE 37th St., a private residence in Norman. The event is free and open to the public. To RSVP or for more information, contact Kyla McMoran at kyla@wrcweb.net or (405) 364-9424.
