Geburt ist ein physiologischer Vorgang, der den Fortgang der Menschheit sichert. Deshalb ist er von Natur aus auf Erfolg ausgerichtet. Und doch gibt es keinen anderen natürlichen Vorgang, dem mit einem vergleichbaren grundsätzlichen Misstrauen begegnet wird. Die Folge ist die Medikalisierung und Pathologisierung von Schwangerschaft und Geburt: Kein anderer physiologischer Vorgang findet routinemässig in 98% aller Fälle im Krankenhaus und unter medizinischer Überwachung statt.
