Brixton Dykes on the Rampage - back by popular demand!

At Windrush Square, London, United Kingdom
On 23rd September 2017 2 p.m. - 4 p.m.

Description

This event is a fundraiser for the Rebel Dykes film and is in association with Queer Tours of London and Streatham Free Film Festival. Donations welcome!

Brixton has a long and powerful history of queer squatting. We will be walking the streets and taking you back in time to the days of the Olive Morris and Brixton Black Women's Group and squatting in the 1970s, through to the stories of the Rebel Dykes of the 1980s, and bringing it all nearly up to present day with the House of Brag.

We want this to be interactive, bringing our queer history alive on the streets of London, so we would love Queers and Rebels who have memories of the squats of Brixton to come along with us.

Meet at 2pm on Windrush Square.

Guides:

Siobhan, Producer of Rebel Dykes

Milo, Formerly of the House of Brag (a south London queer squatting collective) Milo is now working on a Ph.D looking at squatting in Brixton as carried out by groups who explicitly connected it to issues of gender, race, sexuality and class.
