Duo Concert "Sound Painting" meets Deine Innere Quelle

The free improvisation duo concert by GÜNTER HEINZ & HARUHIKO OKABE meets the art exhibition "DEINE INNERE QUELLE" by HARUKA SASAKI

This will be the cross-cultural improvisation concert, by the two musicians Günter Heinz, linked to the European art tradition, active in all areas of contemporary music, known as Jazzer and composer of electronic music & Haruhiko Okabe, Japanese Hichiriki (Japanese traditional instrument used in Gagaku, the ancient imperial court music) and saxophone player, active in Jazz scene worldwide.
They will create a cinematic soundscape inspired by the surrounding arts of Haruka Sasaki.

Günter Heinz (Trombone / DE) www.guenter-heinz.de
Born in Zeitz (formerly GDR), studied mathematics in Halle and music in Dresden and Berlin.
His first employment was as a mathematician at the Academy of Mines at Freiberg and at the Academy of Sciences at Berlin where he graduated in 1983.
Since 1987 he has worked as a freelance musician focusing mainly on contemporary compositions and improvisation.
He has premiered several works and recorded for radio and CD in Germany, Switzerland and USA.
Between 1992-93 he worked as guest composer at the Electronic Studio of the Musikakademie Basel.
In 1994 he was teaching free improvised music at the Conservatory of Sardinia at Cagliari.
He has participated in some of the most important music festivals in Berlin, Leipzig, Stavanger, Genf, Antwerp, Rümlingen ...
His compositions has been performed in Moscow, Madrid, Florida, Malta ...
He collaborated with Bernd Koeppen, Kent Carter, Bill Elgart, Michael Lytle, Guenter Mueller, Klaus Koch, Lou Grassi, Hartmut Dorschner, Günter Baby Sommer, Stephen Montague, Malcolm Goldstein, Steve Swell, George Cremaschi and many others.
He is artistic director of the Festival of Free Improvised Music in Dresden.

Haruhiko Okabe (Hichiriki, Saxophone / JP / 1961-)
Free Improvisor. He was born and lives in Takamatsu Kagawa Japan. He graduated from Okayama University Faculty of Letters - Department of philosophy. In 1997 he started his career of a Free Improvisor at OGIKUBO-GOODMAN Tokyo.
He plays the Tenor Saxophone. His style has been based on Jazz and Free Jazz. He started to play the Saxophone at 12 age, and met to Jazz in Okayama university Jazz club, and then soon he was interested in free musics. He also plays Hichiriki which is a Japanese traditional instrument similar to oboe, used in Gagaku (Japanese court music orchestra, it has more than 1,300 years history). He studied Hichiriki since 1998 in Japanese Shinto-shrine from an old Shinto priest who was a master of Hichiriki.
In 1998 he made a short journey to Bali Indonesia, and studied some Balinese music ,suling; bamboo flute, tingklik; bamboo zylophone.
In 2000 he released his first CD "Thinking Pipe, Haruhiko Okabe improvisations". He had a duo concert with Joelle Leandre in Okayama Japan.
In 2001, went to northern Australia to study music of Aboriginal Dejeridoo.
In 2005 he had a duo concert with Carl Bergstroem-Nielsen "Intuitive Music from Denmark" in Takamatsu Japan.
In 2006 he visit to Europe at first time, had concerts with Carl Bergstroem-Nielsen, Nina Björk Eliasson in Copenhagen, with Günter Heinz in Dresden, Angelika Sheridan, Sue Schlottte in Bonn, and with many other improvisors, in many other cites. After the tour some live recording CDs were released.
In 2007 He had a duo concert with Gianni Gebbia in Takamatsu.
In 2008 He had a concert "dialogue" in Takamatsu with Nina Björk Eliasson, Mette Stig Nielsen.
In 2009 he went to Seoul, South Korea, had some improvisation concerts and researched Korean traditional musics (Aaku). He went to Denmark to participate DIMC. He visited to Iceland to record with Nina Björk Eliasson.
In 2016 he visited to Europe, in July he participated in Copenhagen Jazz Festival with Nina Björk Eliasson, Jakob Davidsen. And he had concerts with Günter Heinz in Kleinwaltersdorf and Dresden, and he participated in “INTUITIVA New Art Conference 2016" in Poland. A concert “Sommermainé” improvisation and portly reading in Faaborg, fine, Denmark. with Marie Okabe, Laus Strandby Nielsen, Nina Björk Eliasson, Mette Stig Nielsen and Jens Schou. In Berlin concerts with Tristan Honsinger, Izumi Ose, Nina Björk Eliasson.
In 2017 CD "Summerthinness" is released. he will participate in Copenhagen Jazz Festival (Japan Night), tour in Germany with Günter Heinz and Haruka Sasaki, and will participate in INTUITIVA 2017. and many other projects are running.
