Lessons from State-based Campaigns for Universal Healthcare

At Mcclure Multigenerational Center, Burlington (VT), United States
On 5th August 2017 6:30 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Description

Winning Healthcare as a Right in the Trump Era: Lessons from State-based Campaigns for Universal Healthcare

Saturday, August 5th, 6:30 - 8pm

McClure Multigenerational Center, 241 N. Winooski Ave, Burlington

With Washington’s attacks on Medicaid and Planned Parenthood, and the failure of Obamacare to deliver affordable healthcare to our communities, support for a universal, publicly financed healthcare system - “Medicare for All” - is growing by leaps and bounds in the US.

The path to victory runs through the states - From California to Massachusetts, and New York to Maine, movements of low-income and working people are demanding that state governments provide universal healthcare as a right, paid for through progressive taxes.

Join the Healthcare is a Human Right Collaborative - featuring members of Put People First - PA, the Southern Maine Workers' Center, National Economic and Social Rights Initiative, and the Vermont Workers’ Center - for an evening discussion on building an intersectional working-class movement with the power to win universal healthcare and an economy that puts people first.
