WITCH HOUR:
Is a 18 minute Black & White Symphony of Horror with some good ol' Dark Comedy! I put together this short after winning best director at the San Antonio, Texas, Horrific Film Fest 2016 for Life's A Bitch! as a thriller feature. It inspired me to make my first horror film, but of course I had to throw in some good old dark comedy. I was only back in Texas for 1 month before I decided to make a film with a dead line of coming back to Europe by Feb. 2nd 2017. I began in San Antonio, Texas on October 27th, 2017. It was written in 3 days, casted in 1 month and shot in 4 days. I continued once I arrived and completing the sound and edit by the end of February in Barcelona, Spain. Excited, for the world to see my new project and have many more scripts always looking for collaborators to make it happen!
Director's note:
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, prior to making this film I'd been a musician for many years of my life and also a photographer, but always had an interest in film. One day, while living in Barcelona, Spain, I woke up and said "it's now or never" and I started my journey creating this film with no experience, no crew and no funding. I purchased a camera and went on a year long search for the cast, which in the end was the perfect blend of raw talent and professional experience. I found half of my cast on the streets, bars and subways of Barcelona and the other half were local well known professionals. This being my first film I was quite surprised of how many professionals wanted the parts. Professional or not I was extremely picky to make sure that the person had that natural character I was looking for. Even though I had never done this before, I was determined to make my vision a reality. It then took me another year to film. When you don't have a crew but a large cast it's not an easy thing getting who I needed for my shots each day and trying to make it all work with locations and time schedules. With no money knowing I wouldn't have the luxury of reshoots with the time frame of 2 or 3 hours to use the location for free. I filmed down to the last moments before my flight out of Spain. It then took me a further year to edit all of the great footage and put it all together including scoring the film with many musicians from Texas, New York and Barcelona. I did acquire quite a bit of finagling on my part to make what I had work for this feature length film.
