Lesung mit dem nigerianischen Autor Abubakar Adam Ibrahim

Description

Am 27.6.2017 wird mit Abubakar Adam Ibrahim ein preisgekrönter Star der florierenden Literaturszene Nigerias im Aquarium (neben Südblock , Skalitzer Straße 6, 10999 Berlin) lesen.

2016 gewann er unter anderem den African Writer's Residency Award. Der Preis wird gemeinsam von der Sylt Foundation und dem Goethe-Institut vergeben. Sein erster Roman „Seasons of Crimson Blossoms“ provozierte mit seiner Darstellung weiblicher Sexualität in einem zutiefst konservativen Land. Den Hintergrund der Erzählung bildet die politische Situation in Nigeria, zu deren Alltag Boko Haram, Hunger und Gewalt gehören. Der politische Autor Abubakar Ibrahim bringt uns ein Land näher, über das wir noch viel zu wenig wissen.

Die Veranstaltung wird überwiegend auf Englisch stattfinden. Der Eintritt ist frei.

On June 27, 2017, Abubakar Ibrahim, who is an award-winning star of the flourishing literary scene in Nigeria, will read at Südblock.

In 2016 he won amongst others the African Writer’s Residency Award. This prize is given by both, the Sylt Foundation and the Goethe Institute. His first novel „Seasons of Crimson Blossoms“ provoked with its depiction of female sexuality in a highly conservative country. The background of the narration forms the political situation in Nigeria whose everyday life is characterised by Boko Haram, hunger and violence. The political writer Abubakar Ibrahim will bring a country closer to us of which we currently still know much to little about.

The event will be mainly in English. Admission is free.
