Queer Pride Marches in India: Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

At India HIV / AIDS Alliance, Delhi, India
On 17th June 2017 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Description

Feminism in India, Gaylaxy Magazine and India HIV/AIDS Alliance invite you to a Wikipedia Edita-a-thon on 'Queer Pride Marches in India'. June being pride month, in this Edit-a-thon, articles will be created and edited on queer pride marches held in various Indian cities which either have no representation on Wikipedia or very less information is available on them. The articles will be created/edited in English and any other language the participant is comfortable in.

Why are we doing this? We are all aware of the large reach and popularity of Wikipedia. However, information pertaining to Indian pride marches is scant or non-existent on Wikipedia. Many cities in India now organise Pride March, and teh list keeps growing each year, yet there is no information about them on Wikipedia.

What will we do? During the event, the first hour will be dedicated to introduction and briefing on how to create and edit articles on Wikipedia. Then participants will work in groups or individually on a pre-made list of pride marches in various cities which lack representation on Wikipedia. At the end of the day, all of this newly made Wikipedia pages will be collated.

When? 10 AM - 6 PM IST, Saturday, June 17, 2017

Where? Office of India HIV/AIDS Alliance. 6 Community Centre, Zamrudpur Kailash Colony Extension, New Delhi 110048 T +91-11-4536-7700

Who can come? Anyone who is willing to help and create wikipedia pages. No prior knowledge of creating/editing Wikipedia pages is needed. We especially encourage trans people and women to join us

Any other important information: Please bring your laptop along
