We are gravely concerned about the situation which is unfolding following Thursday's election. A Conservative-DUP government is bad news for the reproductive rights of women in Northern Ireland where abortion in punishable by up to life in prison - the DUP has continuously obstructed the progress of basic human rights in Northern Ireland and has consistently blocked any attempts to allow abortion, even in limited circumstances.
Join us on Saturday 10th June to send a clear message that we specifically oppose the sustained denial of basic reproductive rights in Northern Ireland by the DUP.
LIARC will meet at 11.30am on the north-west side of Lambeth Bridge before walking together to Parliament Square.
The protest starts at 12 noon from Parliament Sq. marching to Downing Street for 2pm.
We would like to clarify that the Stand Up To Racism protest, which includes SWP, previously referenced here will be taking place at the same time, but that London-Irish ARC is an independent organisation in no way affiliated with SUTR. The presence of London-Irish ARC at Downing Street this afternoon is vital as we are on the front line in the fight for abortion rights consistently blocked by the DUP in Northern Ireland. However, we want to ensure anyone attending this with us is safe and informed and strongly advise against picking up their placards or signing their petitions.
Thank you!
