The Italian bank Intesa SanPaolo is a direct investor in the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).

After a successful initial campaign on March 30, Resistance Events Italy, Women's March - Milan and American Expats for Positive Change have organized a follow-up online protest for Thursday April 27 to step up the pressure. We will demand that Intesa SanPaolo divest from DAPL. Our Open Letter of Response calls out the bank’s unfounded justifications for financing this reprehensible project. On April 27, we will make our voices heard!

HOW DOES AN ONLINE PROTEST WORK?
We all send messages to Intesa SanPaolo via Twitter, Facebook and email on the same day, APRIL 27, 2017. We want to bombard them with messages to divest! Take 5 minutes on THURSDAY, APRIL 27 to demand that Intesa SanPaolo divest from the DAPL project by sending messages to them directly across multiple social media platforms using hashtags #DivestDAPL and #WaterIsLIfe.

We encourage all interested groups and individuals to promote and participate in this ONLINE PROTEST!

WHAT IS DAPL?
The Dakota Access Pipeline Project (DAPL) is a $3.78 billion conduit being built from the oil-rich Bakken fields in North Dakota, near the Canadian border, through South Dakota and Iowa, to Patoka, Illinois, where it will join up with existing pipelines to transport up to 570,000 barrels a day of crude to refineries and markets in the Gulf and on the East Coast.

WHAT IS THE THREAT?
The pipeline is being built near the Standing Rock Sioux Reservation near Cannon Ball, North Dakota. Amnesty International and independent UN experts have documented human rights violations. The pipeline disturbs the tribe’s sacred sites, infringes on past treaties, and is a significant danger to the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe’s water supply since it passes underneath the Missouri River — the main source of water for the reservation.

Giovedì 27 APRILE 2017 Campagna di PROTESTA ONLINE #DivestDAPL

La banca italiana Intesa SanPaolo è un investitore diretto nell'oleodotto Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) che viola i diritti umani e le terre sacre degli Indiani d'American Sioux della tribu' Standing Rock.

A seguito di una prima protesta online il 30 marzo Resistance Events Italy, Women's March Milan e AEPC Italy hanno organizzato una seconda protesta online per GIOVEDI' 27 APRILE per mantenere alta l’attenzione sul tema DAPL. Chiederemo a Intesa SanPaolo di divestire da questo oleodotto. La nostra Lettera Aperta di Risposta porta alla luce le giustificazioni non fondadate che la banca utilizza per continuare a finanziare questo riprovevole progetto. Univetevi a noi il giorno 27 aprile e ci faremo sentire!

IN CHE COSA CONSISTE IL DAPL?
Il Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) è un progetto di 3.780 milioni di dollari destinati alla costruzione di un oleodotto che parte dai giacimenti del North Dakota (nelle vicinanze del confine statunitense con il Canada), attraversa il South Dakota e l'Iowa, per arrivare nello stato dell'Illinois, dove si collega con gli oleodotti già esistenti al fine di trasportare fino a 570.000 barili di idrocarburi al giorno alle raffinerie e ai mercati del Golfo di Messico e della costa est degli USA.

QUAL’E’ LA MINACCIA?
L’oleodotto viene costruito nelle immediate vicinanze della riserva della tribù degli Indiani d’America Sioux di Standing Rock, in prossimità di Cannon Ball, North Dakota. La tribù sostiene che l’oleodotto stia profanando le sue terre sacre, che violi le promesse sottoscritte in trattati pregressi, nonché la sovranità della tribù stessa, e che rappresenti un pericolo significativo per le loro forniture di acqua dato che passa proprio sotto il fiume Missouri, la fonte principale di acqua per la riserva.

COME FUNZIONA UNA PROTESTA “ONLINE”?
Invieremo messaggi a Intesa SanPaolo via Twitter, Facebook e email il giorno 30 marzo 2017. L’obbietivo è quello di inondare Intesa SanPaolo con messaggi sui social media! Dovreste dedicare soltanto qualche minuto giovedì 27 aprile per insistere che Intesa Sanpaolo disinvesta dal progetto DAPL, inviando loro messaggi su diverse piattaforme social.
