On the fourth anniversary of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse, join us for an evening of photos and film to commemorate those that lost their lives making our clothes, the workers who survived and the women's movement of resistance in Dhaka.
We're premiering the crowdfunded documentary, Sramik Awaaz: Worker Voices that chronicles the barriers faced by the mostly female garment and their efforts to overcome them through organising, educating each other and building a worldwide movement of allies.
We will also be showcasing stunning images from our photo series, Women are the Resistance that profiles just a handful of Bangladeshi women who we don't often hear about, yet are the backbone of the fight for justice inside and outside of factories in Bangladesh. War on Want’s Thulsi Narayanasamy will share news of her latest trip to Dhaka and the conditions facing garment workers four years on from Rana Plaza.
As an extra special treat, our dear friends at Rainbow Collective will present a preview screening of short films made by children of Bangladeshi garment workers, on a new project by Lensational.
The evening is hosted by TRAID, Brick Lane Circle, Rainbow Collective, and War on Want. Admission free and drinks available for purchase at the bar.
