Speak Out for Abortion, Birth Control, and Healthcare for All!

At 26 Federal Plz, New York, NY 10013, United States
On 16th March 2017 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Description

Speak Out for Abortion, Birth Control, and Healthcare for All!

On March 7, Republicans introduced the American Health Care Act, which cuts Medicare funding and would ban any funding of Planned Parenthood, among other sweeping changes.

Trump's pick, Tom Price was confirmed as Secretary of Health & Human Services in January. A proponent of Medicare privatization and legislation cutting access to abortion and birth control, Price is dangerous to women, families, and all working people.

This is unacceptable!

Let's show Price, HHS, Donald Trump, and the GOP that the US majority opposes their anti-woman policies and their plan to privatize Medicare!

Join National Women's Liberation for a Speak Out for Abortion, Birth Control, and Healthcare for All at the US Department of Health & Human Services office in NYC (26 Federal Plz, On Broadway btw Worth and Duane St).

On Thursday, March 16 at 6:00pm we will announce our demands:

+ Free abortion & birth control with full access for ALL women
+ Free universal childcare
+ National healthcare for all
+ Paid parental leave

Bring signs, listen to speakers, and rally! Our voices will be heard!

Who is Tom Price?

As U.S. Representative for Georgia, Price was a tool of Big Pharma and the insurance industry. While in Congress he received hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from companies that would benefit from his privatization agenda. His extreme positions put corporate profits before people; he wants to privatize Medicare, enriching his donors at the expense of the elderly and working families.

An outspoken critic of the Affordable Care Act, at HHS Price will likely reverse the rules that prevent insurers from charging women more money than men for the same health coverage. He has publically denied the fact that women have difficulty accessing birth control and will seek to repeal mandatory contraception coverage. If he succeeds in bringing down the ACA, it will end the requirement that insurance companies include maternity care in their plans on the individual market, causing women to pay more in premiums and out of pocket when they seek maternity care.
