For our next in-store BBE Music & The Institute of Light and The #iamdj Appreciation Society are proud to host a free all-day party amplifying 7 women-identified DJs to celebrate International Women's Day (8th March) 2017, curated by #iamDJ Creative Director's Auntie Maureen.

Recognising disparity in DJ booths and on dance floors the electronic music world over, The #iamdj Appreciation Society has for the last 1.5 years been so bold as to loudly challenge the mis- and underrepresentation of women and gender queer music selectors. Thus far outlets have been a monthly safe-space listening circle for music lovers, a weekly Real House Radio show with a bold women and gender queer electronic music playlist, and now this upcoming celebration for #IWD2017 at The BBE Store inside The Institute of Light

Bringing together different musical histories and dance floors she has engaged with over 30 years of clubbing, creative director for #iamDJ Auntie Maureen has curated a diverse line-up of bold collectors, broadcasters, auteurs, DJs and promoters away from the usual bill of male connoisseurs:

Amplifying even more women's voices, #iamDJ will be boldly be passing around the donations bucket in order to raise money for The Women & Girls Network www.wgn.org.uk. This London charity aims to promote, preserve and restore the mental health and well-being of women by offering counselling, advocacy and advice to those who have experienced or are at risk of sexual and gendered violence.

To document #iamDJ's launch as Community Interest Company Hot Beef Sundae is filming on the day. The BBE Store will be open for trade as normal, so vinyl junkies and families alike can make a day of our #iamDJ celebration. Everyone is welcome!
