Last week, Native American land defenders on Standing Rock were brutally assaulted as they continued to stand against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL).
The Red Warrior Camp on Standing Rock has called for Global Solidarity Actions. We in Philly will gather on Wednesday morning at 8AM to launch a new wave of support for the water protectors engaging in resistance to DAPL.
We will gather on the west side of Philadelphia City Hall Plaza (near the fountains at the interestection of 15th and Market ) at 8AM on Wednesday, November 2. We will have a rally with signs and banners. Feel free to also bring your own.
Water protectors have requested three types of help:
1) Going to Standing Rock!!!!
2) Staging local solidarity actions and
3) Donating money to the legal fund: https://www.generosity.com/fundraising/red-warrior-camp-legal-fund-nodapl or https://www.paypal.me/OcetiSakowinCamp
We encourage all three, even as we respond to the call for local actions. We anticipate that this will be the first of many such actions in the coming weeks and months.
For more information and to see the call to action from the Red Warrior camp, go to www.nodaplsolidarity.org
This demonstration is carrying on despite the SEPTA workers' strike. This moment is an urgent one, so please plan ahead and try to find a way to make it on time. Your presence is valued.
