GWL are thrilled to be included in the Radical Film Festival programme and will be taking this opportunity to put Feminist Film Making in the spotlight.
Saturday 30th April, 6pm to 8pm: Feminist Films, Feminist Histories
On Saturday 30th April we host Feminist Films, Feminist Histories: an event exploring the making of feminist documentary and the history of feminist archiving and filmmaking since the start of the Women’s Liberation Movement.
This session will showcase original material from Feminist Archive North and from feminist production companies Leeds Animation Workshop and Vera Media. We will also be showing some new material wherein filmmakers, academics and archivists reflect on both the archive itself and the act of archiving. Part of a broader project Feminist Archives Feminist Futures (FAFF), we explore the act of archiving on feminist history, activism and practices and consider how interactive documentary film can facilitate public engagement with archives.
More about Radical Film Festival:
Over the May Day weekend, Glasgow will host the Radical Film Network festival and unconference at a range of venues across the city. This unique and innovative constellation of events brings together the collective efforts of activists, academics, and cultural workers from over twenty organisations engaged with radical film culture in Scotland.
The 2016 unconference and festival will respond to one another, allowing for questions and ideas to be explored beyond the conventional boundaries of academic fora and film festivals.
