The Feminist Society is *greatly* honored to welcome Dr. Abbe Brown as a speaker for an interactive evening. We highly recommend all our members (and their friends!) to attend this evening - it is a rare and delightful opportunity to learn about a strong woman's continuous path to success, hosted on campus for all to attend ✊
Dr Abbe Brown teaches and researches in the School of Law at the University of Aberdeen. She is a Reader, Deputy Head of School, Senior Personal Tutor and Programme Director of the Law with English Law degree. She is a member of the Steering Group of Women in Renewable Energy Scotland and a lay member of the Public Benefit and Privacy Panel of NHS Scotland. Before joining the University of Aberdeen in 2012, she was a Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh (2006-2012) where she also completed her doctoral research. Before returning to academia, Abbe practised as a solicitor for almost 10 years in London, Melbourne and Edinburgh, specialising in commercial and technology litigation. She has been married for over 20 years, has two sons aged 13 and 11 and enjoys spending time with friends, sport (she represented the West of Scotland at tennis and is still playing regularly for a local team), travel and reading.
Abbe Brown will explore her professional pathway and the opportunities and challenges she has met along the way. She will share some thoughts on how best to achieve objectives, the importance of role models and mentoring, the differences between sectors and industries, and the eternal questions of balance and the extent to which there is a free choice. She hopes that this will be an interactive evening and looks forward to discussion.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Love,
Fem Soc
