Girls Unlimited Conference at Colby College in Waterville
HGHW's 16th Annual Girls Unlimited! Conference: Powered By Girl, will focus on girls' leadership and social activism for girls in 4th-8th grade. Registration fee is $20 before March 28th and $25 after. Breakfast, lunch, workshops, take-aways, and a t-shirt are included! Scholarships are available for students to participate at no cost. Girls Rock Awards at the Senator Inn & Spa in Augusta
Our 6th Annual Girls Rock! Awards will celebrate five girls making Maine a better place to live and grow. RSVP online by March 28th. HGHW's 2nd Annual Girls Unlimited! Portland Conference
This conference, 9:30am - 2:30 pm, for girls in 4th-8th grades, will feature the keynote "Widening the Lens: Media Literacy from a Feminist Perspective," by educator, writer, advocate, and feminist, Katie Heimer of Cambridge and Harvard College Women's Centers. Girls will have hands on opportunities to learn about activism, and leadership in afternoon breakout sessions. Lunch, workshops, take-aways, and a t-shirt are included in the cost! Who is Katie Heimer:
Katie HeimerKatie Heimer, M.A., currently serves as the Women's Center Coordinator at the Cambridge Women's Center in Cambridge, MA. She also sits on the board of the Boston chapter of the National Organization for Women, serving as Vice President of Campus Outreach. Previously, she did education and outreach work related to eating disorders, body image and media literacy at the Multi-service Eating Disorders Association in Newton, MA. Katie holds a Bachelor's Degree from Vassar College and a Master's Degree in Media Studies, with a focus on women in the media, from The New School. She is passionate about media literacy education and girls' and women's empowerment.
