Sexual Violence on College Campuses: An Interactive, Multimedia Presentation

This interactive, multimedia presentation by Stephanie Gilmore, Anti-Racist and Queer-Positive Feminist Activist and Educator, examines rape culture on college campuses, using up-to-the-minute examples of activism among students, expert opinion, and observational analysis to explore how students can and do confront sexual violence against women, students of color, and LGBT student. Most notably, this presentation shows how students have mobilized in the past and how they are engaging in vital and important activism to un-learn rape culture and create college communities that marginalize violence in all forms.

Stephanie Gilmore is an antiracist queer feminist scholar-activist who engages activism through education and writing. She facilitates workshops on contemporary and historical feminist activism, sexual violence, and coalition building. She is the author of numerous scholarly and popular articles as well as two books (Feminist Coalitions: Historical Perspectives on Second-Wave Feminism in the United States, 2008; Groundswell: Grassroots Feminist Activism in Post War America, 2012). She is a member of the editorial collective for the journal Feminist Studies; and a board member for the Committee of LGBT Historians.
