The fourth Reading Climate Festival will run from Saturday 10th June to Wednesday 21st June, concurrently with the UK-wide Great Big Green Week and Show Your Stripes Day. Its aim is to inspire and encourage positive action on climate change, supporting Reading’s commitment to being a Net Zero, climate resilient town by 2030.
The festival originated in 2020 as a series of online talks about various aspects of climate change and sustainable living to support the launch of Reading’s Climate Emergency response. In 2022 it was able to add a broad range of in-person events including the Reading Climate Festival Youth Fair, the Reading Cycle Festival, the Ants and the Grasshopper film, etc. and expand the programme to include more entertainment and public participation.
The festival is supported by a variety of individual experts and organisations who generously share their expertise to provide high quality content. This year we are working in collaboration with the University of Reading, Reading’s Economic and Destination Agency (REDA), and Reading Borough Council.
Reading Climate Festival is run on a not-for-profit basis by a team of volunteers on behalf of Reading Climate Change Partnership, the multi-stakeholder voluntary group which is responsible for Reading’s Climate Emergency Strategy. The partnership’s public outreach is delivered through Reading Climate Action Network with the aim of bringing individuals, communities and organisations together in Reading to tackle climate change.
Anybody interested in contributing content or helping the festival is invited to contact the organisers at info@readingcan.org.uk for an expression of interest form which needs to be submitted before close of play on the 31st of January 2023.
