<3 The Berlin Feminist Film Week turns 5! <3

The fifth edition of tour festival will open on March 8th, International Women*s Day. The Berlin Feminist Film Week is an annual film festival dedicated to spread awareness of feminism through cinematic experiences and welcomes all movie-lovers, feminists, friends of feminists to join us for a week of films, workshops and discussions. After the opening at Babylon, we will return to Neukölln and the CRCLR space at Kindl-Gelände.

As of now, the patriarchy controls storytelling and most films are made from a white cis-male perspective. Women, PoC and queer filmmakers are underrepresented in front as well as behind the camera and we think that everyone deserves to be truly represented in the stories the world gets to see. Not only at big festivals but in cinemas, there is a true lack of diversity and though our festival is small, we hope that we can inspire others and maybe affect some change, until the bigger festivals catch on.

Either way, we hope that everyone interested in feminism and film, can enjoy this festival as much as we do and see it as an inspiration and a contrast to mainstream cinema.
