The story of Yiftach's daughter (Judges 11) and how Chazal interpret it is so powerful and relevant to the politics of Batei Din today. Through a close literary read of texts, we will learn why Yiftach's daughter is a symbol of the Aguna today.

ESTHER MACNER, Esq., is founder (2012) of Get Jewish Divorce Justice, a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, dedicated to the prevention of get abuse in the Jewish divorce process through education, advocacy, individual counseling. She spearheaded the revision to the Beth Din of America’s revision to the California Prenup (2015). She is also principal at Get Divorce Solutions a divorce co-mediation practice that specializes in religious divorcing couples. She also holds an MA in Tanach and is a sought-after teacher.
