The evening will begin with a cocktail hour from 4:30-6:00pm centering around the diversity of experiences and voices of marginalized Jewish groups.
From 6:00-6:45pm the group will come together for a musical Havdalah celebration guided by a group of musicians representative of all the Jewish partners present.
After Havdalah ends we will hold a Hevria Curated open mic event and Karaoke until 10pm.
The open mic is an opportunity to harness the energy of the evening and give all guests the space to hear from one another and to make connections with members of the community they would have not otherwise.
We hope you will join us in bringing together our community, your voice and experiences are crucial to Shabbat Shira! See you there!

DESCRIPTION:
Though Passover is the holiday we commemorate the leaving of Egypt, Shabbat Shira celebrates the Torah reading read that week, namely, the splitting of the sea and the song (shira) we sang in gratitude at the miraculous wonders of the Divine.
Just as the Jewish community was during the Exodus, we invite you to a Night of Jewish Diversity
“Shabbat Shira (song): Celebrating a Symphony of Jewish Diversity” will be centered around our understanding of Jewish diversity and the voices that make up our Brooklyn-Jewish community.
SOME OF OUR GOALS:
1) We seek to introduce members of our Jewish community from diverse backgrounds who have had little opportunity in the past to meet and collaborate.
2) We will slow down through sacred Jewish practice, reflect and
consider why we are on this planet, what our unique vision is and how self care will help us repair the world.
3) Our aim is that through these interactions guests will consider how through their own Jewish journeys they can provide opportunities for Jews with diverse voices and experiences to share with the community.
